Microsoft Kin One and Kin Two: The Latest Social Handsets
Recently, Microsoft Corporation unveiled their new phones. These two mobile phones, which are branded KIN, are the new Windows Phones. The two handsets are designed specially for people who are into updating their social lives. The KIN is intended to bring together mobile phones, online services and personal computers in one handset. The Kin project is in partnership with carries Verizon Wireless (for the United States) and Vodafone (for Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom). The hardware is designed by Sharp Corporation. The two handsets are expected to be released into the market sometime this 2010 so be sure to look out for new Kin One contracts or if you prefer Microsoft Kin Two deals.
Social Mobile Phones
The Microsoft Kin One and Kin Two, which are branded Turtle and Pure, are social networking phones. These phones have user interface that focuses on the people and the stuff the mobile phone users are into instead of menus and icons. This makes connecting with other people fun and simple.
Both phones come with a TFT capacitive touch screen (Turtle has 2.6 inches while Pure has 3.4 inches) which makes viewing of pictures and videos a pleasurable experience. For ease in typing of texts and messages, the phones come with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard.
Probably one of the main differences of the two phones is the size. The turtle is smaller and more compact which gives a perfect fit for the pocket of the users. The Pure, on the other hand, is rectangular in shape with a larger screen and keyboard. Although the Pure has a higher resolution camera than the Turtle, both cameras are intended for low light use with image stabilization and LumiLED flash.
Sharing Capabilities
The Kin Loop which is the home screen of the phones is designed to keep users updated on the latest happenings in the lives of a friend or a family. These two mobile phones automatically bring in feeds from third party services such as Twitter, Myspace and Facebook in one place. This makes staying connected with the people that matter easier and faster.
Through the Kin, users can choose which among their friends they want most updates from. Once the users select their favorite people, the Kin will prioritize messages, photos, feeds and status updates from these people. Apart from the Loop, the Kin also has what the company calls the Spot. While most phones focus on the application, the Kin through the Spot allows users to prioritize the people and the things they want to share with their friends and family.
